Legacy local network users cannot authenticate on new server

Hi guys,

Hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction here.

Quick overview:

My current server is on OS X 10.9.5 and I have recently built a new 10.11 server on a new SSD drive. I have exported the users out of the old server using WGM and they import absolutley fine.

When I have booted into the new 10.11 server to test things out all of the imported local network users are having trouble authenticating both on the clients and also into our NAS which utilises the LDAP accounts.

As soon as I create new local network users they can authenticate no problems at all.

Is there anything obvious here that I'm just not aware of i.e. incompatibilities with exported users from that version of server?

At this point i should probably point out that I have followed the standard troubleshooting steps detailed within this site up to and including deleting the OD server.

I didn't actually note any of the slapd errors before rebooting into the old server but I can get some if required. I did notice slapd errors essentially saying it could retrieve the credentials for the user attempting to auth in.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Justin

IIRC passwords are not transferred when exporting users from WorkGroup Manager. Try assigning a password to one of the exported users to see if that fixes things. If it does you can select all exported users as one, assign a simple password followed by a policy that forces them to change it at the next connection or login attempt to a share, service or home folder.
